Early Career Award Specifications
This award recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field of intercultural relations early in their careers.
Eligibility
Individuals are eligible for this award if they have made substantial contributions to intercultural relations within seven (7) years of receiving a Ph.D or equivalent advanced degree. Nominees need not be members of the Academy.
Nominations
Individuals must be nominated by a Fellow of the Academy. The nomination should include:
a. A cover letter outlining the nominee’s accomplishments to date and anticipated future contributions;
b. The nominee’s current curriculum vitae;
c. Several of the nominee’s publications; and
d. The names, addresses (both physical and email) of two other people who may be contacted for reference letters.
The application must be submitted electronically (Microsoft Word preferred) to the Chair of the Early Career Award Committee (currently Walter Stephan: wgstepha@nmsu.edu).
Deadline
The deadline for nominations is January 1 in the years when an international conference of the Academy is scheduled (normally, every two years in odd numbered years).
Conference Presentation
It is expected that the recipient will present their research at the conference at which the award will be presented. In addition, an article based on the research will be published in the International Journal of Intercultural Relations. Registration fee for the conference at which the award is presented will be waived.
